HI everyone,
How do antidepressants work to reduce panic? I understand that ativan reduces panic, but will the zoloft really help also?

Antidepressants are used successfully for both anxiety & depression. Research indicates that both disorders are due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. AD meds such as zoloft correct that balance which involves the serotonin levels.


Many in our community take antidepressants, Ally. Zoloft is a popular & good drug. I have never taken zoloft but have taken effexor, luvox & anafranil & they helped my panic disorder. There's lots of good advice on the Antidepressant Meds Board:

Yes, the zoloft will help, too.
