I actually have an interview this week!!!!!
So what works for you all in a professional setting to keep the anxiety down and your brain functional?? How do you answer the questions in an interview? What do you say when they ask you why do you want to work here??
I need some interviewing tips, this is a great shot at a job and I need one desperately! So any and all tips are welcome.
Thanks,
Lisa

I am so happy to hear you have a prospect, Lisa!
I try to keep my mind calm by belly breathing & focusing on what the interviewer is asking. Try to be sincere & give thoughtful answers. For example, you can tell them that you have heard their ICU is one of the best in the area. Or make it personal by saying, I was really impressed by the care my gf received when her baby was born. I don't know where you're applying, but if it's a nursing home, comment on the surroundings. *You have a very clean facility. The residents all look well groomed. I always wanted to give older folks the best care that they deserve.*
Dress for success;) No blue jeans & tennis shoes. Look & act professional. Don't forget to thank everyone you come in contact with. Act interested in everything & NEVER bring up the subject of salary until they do first. These are things I have used or read about. I hope others can give you some pointers. Good luck! Let us know how it goes. (((hugs))) jan
Thanks Jan,
I plan to wear a white button up shirt with dress pants, keeping the make up and jewelery to a minimum. I'm not sure what to do with my hair tho.
The job is in a hospital, I did have some clinicals there and I have been a patient there as well(not on that unit). The interview is tomorrow afternoon and I already feel like a cooked noodle ;) nerves are setting in!
Hugs,
Lisa
Hi Lisa!!!
I have to say, I LOVE INTERVIEWS. but im a in face kind of person. I love that you get a chance to talk yourself up! Here are my tips: they've never failed me or my friends :)
1) Begin right now saying to yourself "They would be lucky to have me! I can succeed at this job and make a difference! Im ready for the challenge!"
2) remember that THEY are on an interview too. You dont have to accept the position if its not what YOU want. :) this one helps alot to remember you are interviewing THEM! it takes the pressure off of feeling alone in that room.
3) Smile. be honest. research the company on the internet, know their company belief/goal statement.
4) have your resume/portfolio, along with a seperate sheet of your accomplishments/work ethic beliefs :) (just 4 bullet points worth)
5) Be POSITIVE, keep your smile there, if they ask why you left your last job, or what about it you didnt like, keep your answer vague and positive and dont ever actually answer the "what didnt you like" its a TRICK question. This is a good answer " I really desire to excel in a challenging enviroment that gives me room for creativity in helping people"
6) if you've been out of work for awhile, and they ask about it, you can state the truth, it shows you have alot of power in you to overcome this! if your not comfy with stating it, you can say "I needed recovery from a personal issue, and I am MORE than ready to jump back into my working routine! I've missed it!"
7) lastly, think of at least 2 questions that are job related to ask THEM: such as Benefits, holidays, job duties and requirements, uniform responsibility... just stay away from salary or cash questions :)
GOOD LUCK LISA!! keep us posted. if you want any other feed back, let me know. I've done interviews quite a bit for my employers, and have good info to give. :)
Thanks Heather! I am trying to not let the pressure get to me but I need this job, my bills are piling up. I will keep in mind I have all of you rooting for me ;)
Hugs,
Lisa
