New here - need some advice

Hi. I'm new here and need some advice. Long story short, I was recently diagnosed with panic disorder. I rarely have attacks, but spend too much time worrying about having one. Psychiatrist prescribed Nortriptyline - she said it'll not only get rid of/suppress the panic attacks, but also help as migraine prevention (I'm a sufferer since childhood), and acts as an antihistamine and will help with my sinus/allergy problems. I also started therapy to help me get over the worry.
Wondering if anyone out there is or has been on Nortriptyline, and if so, what your experience has been (I'm also on birth control and have read that b/c aggravates side effects). The doctor gave me a choice of Doxepin, Nortriptyline or Effexor. My dad was on Doxepin years ago (both of my parents have a history of anxiety/panic, and the doctor assured me this is hereditary). I've read so many terrible things about Effexor which steered me away from it for now. I was on Lexapro, then on Zoloft, each for a very short time (1 week each), a long time ago, for menstrual problems. I had serious side effects with each, and was very sick for a long time after, which triggered the panic attacks.
I'm planning on starting the Nortriptyline this weekend. Thanks for any advice. I'm finding this board to be of great help, and find myself checking it a few times a day already!
