Am I really going to feel better soon?

I've been on Lexapro (10mg) and Klonopin (.5 mg 2x/day) for three weeks. I am extremely tired, feel kind of drugged and have insomnia. couple that with extreme nausea and diarrhea - and although I'm so glad the anxiety/panic is down by at least 80%, I'm still not feeling great.

Is this normal and will it pass - or should I be looking at switching things around a bit?

Thanks!

I'm on paxil and ativan and have been for about 8 weeks now. I had the same kind of side effects and they did last a while, but have pretty much gone away. I still wake up a bit anxious and nauseated, but I take an ativan and feel better. Just hang in there a little longer and see how it goes. You want to really give the meds a chance to work before switching. I hope you feel better soon, I know how difficult it is to live with the nausea and diarreha.

Hi! Nice to see you:) You are not alone. The lexapro will take 4 to 6 weeks to reach opimal effect. Your drugged feeling & intestinal upset should pass fairly quickly. IMHO it's too early to make changes in the meds. Most of us would die for an 80% reduction in anxiety so early in our treatment.

Have you seen a counselor? That may help you to learn new patterns of behavior to deal more effectively with your anxiety. Check out the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. There's some ideas that work great on overcoming sleep problems. Sometimes self help is necessary as meds won't take anxiety away entirely. They are just a tool.

Please join us in chats if you can. Our members enjoy sharing their ideas on meds, therapy & new coping techniques. Please share your story when you can. We care & want you to live well. That is our goal & you can count on us for support. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
