Fainted - Ativan for life?

Today I'm doing great. Friday was a different story. I didn't take my ativan in the morning with my paxil and around 2:00 in the afternoon, I felt lightheaded and nauseated. I went home from work and fainted. I then took an ativan and slept for 3 hours. The next day, I felt strange most of the day even after taking ativan. Sunday I felt pretty good and today I feel great. So, I guess I'm going to take ativan long term. Has anyone else taken ativan or klonopin for a prolonged period every day?

I am sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. Is it possible you had a touch of the flu or any illness such as inner ear, sinuses, allergies, etc. that might have caused this? Try not to focus on what happened. It's great that you're having a good day, so live in the moment. Don't look ahead to a lifetime of meds. It's too soon to make that sort of decision now. I know how hard it is for me to not make things much bigger than they really are.

As for long term use of anti-anxiety meds, valium, xanax, ativan, klonopin, etc. that is not recommended. There is a possibility of addiction. You will need to discuss that with your dr. *if* & *when* that situation ever occurs. Good luck! (((hugs)))jan

Thank you Sheri Ann, you made me feel alot better. I still do what you suggested and take the ativan an hour before I have to wake up. It's easy because that is what time my dh has to get up. I'm just going to stick with what works for now. I have felt really great today and yesterday and I don't want to lose that!
