Being alone anxiety?

I've been trying to pinpoint what exactly makes me have anxiety or a panic attack....it is being alone. My husband works alot of hours and I'm a stay-at-home-mom. I feel anxiety when I'm alone and when I try to sleep. Can anyone relate? It's so frustrating.

Thank you,
Jessica

I'm a little mixed on this one. I usually crave alone time. I love to be alone, relaxing, reading or watching a nice girlie movie.

When the panic started for me in Jan. 2005, I couldn't stay home alone with my son, either.

i am reading all these posts with tears in my eyes because it is exactly how i feel too. my safety net was always my mother. now, it is my husband. granted, i have 2 small children so i am really never alone, but the worst time for me is at bed time. either trying to fall asleep, or if i wake up in the middle of the night. the only thing that ever worked for me was falling asleep with the t.v. or radio on.

thanks- i know its awful for us that suffer-none of us feel safe within ourselves only when we are not in a panic mode.my kids are older and usually its us against the world i enjoy them so much and actually hate having hubby bothering us.then i get panic and depression and i need him around.only a few months ago he was gone for the whole weekend and we celebrated.i did everything by myself and with them and for them.i cant believe how much this has controlled my life in just such a short time.keep in touch and take care

Well, I can see by the 19 replies, many can relate!!! Me too!
When I first started having Anxiety problems, I was really really terrified of being alone. I would go to the library or anywhere else just to be around people! I too was a sahm. And at that time with no car and a brand new baby. I walked a lot! That probably helped me too. The good news is, I no longer feel that way. After 14 years of dealing with Anxiety, I've grown and learned and it no longer bothers me to be alone! Ok, if I were in the middle of no where with no one around for miles and miles and miles, that may bother me a little but that is extreme and not likely anyway!!! LOL!
So I guess I'm saying, go to the library, the store, anywhere you can go hang out with other people around to make you feel better. AND there is hope for sure that you will not always feel this way!!! I'm proof!

HUGS!

Laura
