I know anxiety attacks are different for everyone, what happens when you get yours? What have you found to be helpful in stopping or controlling them?

Anxiety I can deal with by exercising & controlling/concentrating on my breathing or meditating.

I have had the best results from learning the belly breathing. I do counteract any negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Learning meditation & practicing it daily keeps me relaxed during a panic attack.

Discussing symptoms is difficult for some of our members. Reading what others experience can trigger attacks in sensitive folks. I won't go into specifics here, Melissa, but I become afraid, feel breathless, have inner & outer trembling & the unreal feelings. HTH (((hugs))) jan

I've never heard anyone talk about unreal feelings before, and I didn't want to because I couldn't really put them into words. For me I almost get an out of body experience, and it's kind of like I'm not awake. I don't know, I still can't really explain it. What do you guys experience?

(((Pinkgummiebear))) The unreal feelings are the scariest of them all for me. Please don't hesitate to discuss anything on the board. It's such a relief to most of us to know that we aren't alone. Anytime you're uncomfortable about things, please e-mail me or Sheri Ann through our profiles. Don't be a stranger. Keep in touch! Good luck & GBU! jan

Here is an old thread that has alot of info on what we experience. HTH
