Does anyone else have anxiety after watching the news or reading the newspaper. I think that I feel overwhelmed by all of the things going on in the world.....

I also feel so much guilt over everything. Anything and everything makes me feel guilty. I don't really know why. If something good happens I feel like I do not deserve it and end up feeling guilty.

I completely understand this, I no longer watch the news and I try to avoid reading the papers, I find that if I read a sad story or read about all of the violence all over the world, or watch it on the news, my anxiety gets worse... strange, I thought it was just all in my head, kind of makes me feel better to no that the world events do not just effect me and my anxiety, but that other people experience this too, so I am not just over reacting!

It's hard enough to keep our lives in balance, let alone watch so much negativity around us. I have pretty much given up on the tv news. I keep in touch with the local paper & weather alerts. Like you, it can be overwhelming.

Even reading alot of medical news can contribute to my anxiety. I only read it when I'm feeling good about myself. Otherwise, I worry that I have every disease I read about. You are not alone. Try to do the best you can. Talk to your pdoc or *T* about the guilt feelings. This should lessen over time. You are a good &

Yes eveything like that gives me anxiety. Skip the news. I also feel gulity about everything too and this has caused a ton of anxiety. Life is too short to feel guilty-I just try to be thankful for what I have and realize that it could change one day and I hope it doesn't but I feel fortunate for all I have in life and that makes the guilt go away. I mean can Oprah help it that she is a billionaire? She has to feel a lot of guilt in the sense that she cannot help the world. Neither can you -- just be thankful and giving in your heart and appreciate what you have and maybe your insecurities will change. There will always people who have it better and worse thatn we do and you cannot change that.

You're definately not alone in this. I have trouble watching the news as well. And then I feel guilty for not knowing what's going on, because I feel like I should care enough to want to know. Can we say vicious cyle? Try not to beat yourself up about it. The reporting of the news is so graphic these days. I don't need or want to know every little detail of every crime or catastophe that happens. It's not that I want to be ingorant of it, but I don't need to be inundated with graphic pictures or details. And that's okay.

I also have a lot of guilt feelings. But, I try not to let them hold me back. I agree that you should talk to your therapist about it.

Well I must be weird because I absolutely have to watch the news several times a day even though I know it can be anxiety-triggering.
