Hello

I am new here and I am just really looking for people who are going through the same thing I am.
I have terrible anxiety I have been on Lexapro now for a year now I do see a big difference but I still get attacks every now and than. The past few day have been pretty bad. I am sure there is something wrong with my heart when I am going through these attacks. I have watched my husband suffer 2 heart attacks at a very young age and ever since than I *think* that is what's wrong with me.

I have all the classic signs of a heart attack and have many trips to the ER in the past they have reassured me there is nothing wrong with my heart. I have been to my GP several times and have full works up as far as my heart is considered and everything comes back FINE!!!

I have been dealing with this since my husbands first heart attack back in 2001 than again in 2003. I just don't know how or what to do to deal with this.
My last anxiety attack was 2 days ago and I was just to scared I was home alone with my kids and I was scared my 5 yr. old would see something wrong with mommy. It's such a helpless feeling.

I was just wondering how other deal with their attacks.

Thanks for listening

Welcome! I can understand why you would get worried when your dh has had 2 heart attacks! But one thing that could help is thinking about how rare it is to have a heart problem at a young age, and since you and your dh aren't related by blood (I assume!LOL) that it would be very unlikely that you would both. And you did a good thing by having the dr check you out to be sure. I know that anxiety attacks can cause chest pain. Personally, I had a problem with my gall bladder about 5 years ago and the 2 gall bladder attacks I had felt just like a heart attack to me too. I know, it is a scary feeling.

I am also on Lexapro, just started about a month ago. I also am seeing a therapist about once a month. (I started at weekly, and moved to monthly) But this board is great,I just discovered it this week, and it really is good to feel like there are others that understand what I am feeling.

So welcome!

When I was calm I wrote a list of what I would or could do if I have a bad anxiety attack. Like, take a walk, write in my journal, breathe deeply, play with my son, keep busy, etc.

I hope this helps!
