Hurricane warning for me tonight!
| Thu, 08-31-2006 - 6:19pm |
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are under a hurricane warning, with the storm hitting at 10 pm tonight.

Sherri Ann I will say a prayer for you-- do storms set off your anxiety? My mom, dad, 2 sisters, brother in law, and 3 yr old twin nieces are in a beach house in Emerald Isle NC right now. I am worried about them because my parents house (in Richmond, VA) was hit by Hurricane Isabel 3 years ago and severely damaged while they were in the basement. My mom (unrecognized, undiagnosed ) has panic issues with storms now, and here they are sitting in a house on the beach when a hurricane is headed their way.
And my dh may be leaving me and the kids for the weekend to go to VA Beach (just the city, not the waterfront) to help his brother with some home repairs, so that makes me anxious. So I am definitely watching the storm (we are near Charlottesville, VA, and they are forcasting 5-10 inches of rain in the next 2 days) and I will add you to my list of prayers!
Let us know you are okay once it is past!
Karen
Thank-you Karen.

Hope all is well with you and the people in the affected areas! Keeping everyone in prayers.
By the way, I wwould like to let everyone know, my prayers are for all religions. I always worry someone will either be Atheist or Hindu or something other than Christian who doesn't necesarsarily pray. I never mean to offend anyone by offering prayers it simply means you are in my thoughts and I am hoping for the best whether that be with the help of a God or not. My prayers are for of the all religion types (and non-religon types)! Buddhists pray, even those who do not believe in God so I think it is appropriate to pray for all people regardless of their religious affiliation. Just a little sidenote on my part. Hope that makes sense! What am I? Methodist/Buddhist with Catholic beliefs and an interest in Hindu. Crazy, eh?! My husband is Catholic and I really respect Catholocism and enjoy Catholic church. I'm Buddhist in my heart but truly understand and respect and feel Christian too. Ok, I'm way off on a tangent here. Just wanted to explain my prayers as I have run across people who were irritated by others telling them I would pray for them. Bottom line, I'm thinking of you and wanting the best for you and all in the hurricane path!
hugs!

That's so funny! We went there with them last summer, and we were supposed to go this year too. But there was a scheduling boo-boo and my sister booked the week after my kids started school. So we were going to pull the kids out of school today and leave yesterday after school, but then with the storm, we canceled. My sister was taking her twins to the aquarium yesterday or the day before. I think they had a few days of good weather before it started raining.
Emerald Isle is beautiful-- I loved how the waves were so gentle (when there wasn't a storm!) They rented a really nice place this year with its own pool. Sorry I missed it.
I will be calling my mom in a bit to see how they fared, but I sure they are okay. Hopefully she did okay emotionally.
Thank-you, Laura.
