paxil/effexor?

Hi there,

My doctor has me on paxil and effexor. Anyone on this combo? I feel a bit better, however, I have not been sleeping well at all. I am under a TREMENDOUS amount of stress, but I thought the meds were supposed to help me relax. I feel like I am never in a deep sleep, and it's almost as if my body is on "high alert." It's weird, my body will not rest while I sleep. I can't explain it. I can't concentrate on anything during the day, and I feel like my nerves are shot. I can't even remember why I go to the mail box!

Anybody experience this sort of thing?

It sounds like your body is trying to get used to the meds.

I have been on this for two months now. I feel all jittery and restless.

Are you a GH fan, too?

These med combos work well, Jolie. Until this begins working for you, I hope you're trying to reduce what you can of your stress load. Don't forget to exercise to blow off steam & it will help you sleep better, too. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

I have been on effexor for 6 weeks now and the sleep issue gets better. I took xanax before going to bed and it helped a little but I still slept bad and sweat when sleeping.

I took Paxil for several years. It worked really well for me (hardly ever had any anxiety or panic) but I was forgetful, never slept well, was sleepy a lot, got the shakes, had zero energy, and got the night sweats. I finally had to quit taking it. Two months should be long enough for your body to be used to it but I'm not a doctor. Talk to your doctor for sure! There are so many different meds out there. If this is not working for you, I am sure you can find something that does.

Hugs!!!!!

Thank you. I talked to my doc the other day, and he wants to give me a sleeping aid. Not quite sure I want to go that route. I have two small kids, and I don't need to be groggy all day. Was it hard going off paxil? I've heard horror stories.

I am under quite a bit of stress lately, and I know that the combo of the stress, not sleeping and meds can cause memory loss. I just feel like I want to shed my skin. I feel like I on high alert all the time. I am so over tired, and so worried that I am going to forget something.

Anyways, thank you for your response!

Jolie, make some lists of what your stressors are & then figure out how you can resolve some of them.
