Anxiety and Phobia of Vomiting

I am in counseling for GAD. I have also had a phobia of vomiting for as long as I can remember. It has gotten much worse since I had my son. He is 5 yrs. old and seems to gag and vomit a lot. I deal with it very well when it happens but afterwards I have a total breakdown and feel like running away. I am hoping the counselor can help but was wondering if anyone else deals with this and would have any suggestions on how to deal with it.

Thank you!

Hello! It's nice to have you here. You are NOT alone. Emetaphobia(fear of vomiting) has been discussed on this board before. I am emtaphobic. When I become nauseated, for whatever reason, I barely breathe or move because of my terror of vomiting. I have found that belly breathing & positive thinking are very helpful. Perhaps you could check out our *coping tips & tricks* folder for more ways to relax, reduce stress

I have been afraid to do it myself most of my life. But after my second pregnancy I learned to take deep breaths and let my body take over. I hope you can get some help for this. Trust me you are not alone.
