I paid the price tonight for a once in a while splurge. I love Coke, bu haven't really had it for several years since caffeine messes me all up. Well tonight i thought i would treat myself, since im still on track with my diet and am doing well. well, about an hour later, here i sitting with my foot bouncing compulsively, feel nervous, shaky, stomach upset, a quickened heartbeat, and the horrible thing that something bad is going to happen. I love Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc. Are there any alternatives for these drinks sans the caffeine? and if so, do they taste good and not have that weird aftertaste?

I can't have caffeine either & just love pepsi. If there's any options that taste just as good, I haven't found them. You might try just having half a coke next time & see if that effects you less. Also, maybe drinking it earlier in the day when you're busier & not as likely to focus on the after effects. Let me know if you find anything else! HTH (((hugs))) jan

I don't know if you like these flavors, but rootbeer and lemon-lime sodas usually don't have any caffeine. (but mountain dew does)

I no haow you feel, I love Pepsi, and just cant NOT drink it, so I have found something that really works for me and maybe it might help you too. After I drink a Pepsi, I wait for half and hour and then I pack up DD and head out for about a 20 minute walk, I dont no why, but this works for me, I dont get jittery and that dreaded feeling. Maybe because it burns up the caffine before it has a chance to effect me, I dont no. Well it works for me so good luck, hope this help a little bit!!

actually since i've had to stop with caffeine i've become a fiend for Sierra Mist and Root Beer; but every once in a while i still gotta have my Coke, even if its just teeny bit. DH says he is going to look for a drink that his mom used to get that was like Coke without any caffeine and still tastes pretty great. Thanks for everything guys, if he finds out what he's talking about i'll let everyone know, lol.

have a great day,

I *love* coffee but of course caffeine = anxiety for most of us!

I drink coffee w/ half caffeine and that's worked for me. But when I crave a hot drink later in the day I've started drinking decaffeinated tea. Usually an herbal kind. It's not really like cola so that might not be helpful for you but it does seem to be calming for me.

Just an idea!

I LOVE Dr. Pepper & bought a 2 liter bottle of caffeine-free, diet Dr. Pepper at the supermarket last week.
