Anyone recommend a book?

Can anyone recommend a good book on anxiety/depression? I can't really afford to see a therapist at this time and I've been struggling lately with depression. Its definately not as bad as the past, but it is there, looming over me. I'm still doing pretty good on the paxil and ativan, but for some reason, I wake up completely unmotivated and have to force myself to get up and get ready for work. Again, its not really bad and I usually feel better in the late morning, but its frustrating!

Thanks,
Candace

P.S. Long time, no see. Good to be here.

Hi Sheri Ann. Good to hear from you. I went to the link you sent me, but all that comes up is a message from Jan that says "bump." What does that mean? Am I missing something?

Thanks for your support,
Candace

Jan, did The Freedom from Depression Workbook help you? I am definately interested in a book with a Chrisitan perspective. BTW, I'm doing much better today. Strange that it comes and goes seemingly without reason.

I was having alot of trouble with my teenage dd. It gave me a new perspective & I was able to *let go* more & trust God. That is still hard for me but any improvement is welcome. I also learned how to see the joy in things. When I was depressed, I never saw anything in an optimistic light. I still have to work pretty hard, Candace, to keep myself from falling in the pits. HTH (((hugs))) jan

I read the Anxiety and Panic Work Book, and I found it really interesting and definetly helpful, it has all kinds of advice and coping strategies!! I definetly recommend this one.

I checked one out at the library a while back and thought it was pretty good. I can not for the life of me remember what it was. I need to go to the library anyway so while I'm there, I will ask the librarian to look at my history and find out what it was. Also, my doc told me I should read Choice Theory. I bought it but haven't read it yet.
I'll get back to you on the name of that other book! And if I forget, remind me!!!!

Hugs!

Laura
