I looking for some advice and if there is another board that is more appropriate would appreciate being directed there.
For the past 5 months I've been dating the most wonderful, caring, amazing man.

Hi, Boone! Nice to see you;)
It's great that you want to support your bf & it's admirable that you are doing research on panic/anxiety. Some of us have noone that cares that much): What it all boils down too is what your bf intends to do about his problem. Is he seeking help through meds/therapy or alternatives? That MUST be his decision & nagging him won't help. Being patient (like sitting on your hands) is a must. He cannot *snap out of it.* It isn't fair to tell him to *get over it.* Having panic attacks for 36 years, I know how unhappy & un-helpful well intentioned people have made me by suggesting such things. Just *be there* for him. We are all learning everyday about anxiety & new ways to cope. I know that your bf can too.
The Families & Mental Illness board has a strong support system for folks in your shoes. Here's the link: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhfamschiz
Yes, he currently is on medication and sees someone every other week.
Hi Boone & welcome!
Sheri Ann
Reading this board has really helped.
That's a shame, Boone, about your bf's illness. Many of us can relate to developing difficulties after severe stress, loss, major life changes or trauma.
There is a list of books that have been recommended by other board members in the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. Please visit us anytime. (((hugs))) jan
Of course you can keep lurking (& posting)!
