Is your *T* critical of your choices?

Do you find that sometimes your therapist is critical of the choices you make? Here's why I ask. You guys know that I've been having bad insomnia for the past several months, and it's been getting progressively worse. I do have a prescription for Ambien-CR (no refills), which I take occasionally, but I don't take every night. For one thing, my doctor said not to take it every night. Also, I have to take it really early (no later than 10 p.m.) so that I'll be able to wake up in the morning to get to work, and if I go to bed that early every night nothing would ever get done around my house.

My therapist seems to be coming across as pretty critical of my choice not to take the Ambien every night. She's saying that I'm making the choice to have insomnia rather than doing something that I know will help me sleep and that I have to decide which is more important--clean laundry or sleep. I don't know. I feel like she's being kind of cavalier about it after I've explained that I'm not comfortable taking a sleeping pill every night.

Thoughts?

Hmm.. Where does this *T* get off superceding the doctor's orders? I would suggest she get an MD if that's the tack she wants to take. Until I got permission from the dr. to take the pill every night, I simply wouldn't do it, Laura.

As for my *T* being critical of my choices in general, he points out the error of my ways either diplomatically or through discussions when I finally get the point myself. I want someone who is supportive. Being critical would undermine my already low self esteem. JMHO (((hugs))) jan
