i plan on quitting this monday.

any stories anyone wants to share with quitting
and panic?

i haven't enjoyed smoking for quite a few years,
i am truly disgusted with myself and so scared of getting
thru this, i went on the patch 3mos b/f i concieved my
6yo son. i started again when he was 3mos old, i think
due to my ocd thoughts and panic attacks.

the 14mos i didn't smoke, i wanted to the whole time!!
i'm sure i wouldn't of lasted that long if i wasn't pregnant.
i really really want this to be it!!

i also have insulin dep. diabetes and my dad passed
away from heart disease at 52, although health anxiety is
not my main problem, it is definetly in the background.
i NEED to do this. any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,
kris

(((Kris))) You're a big girl & I won't preach to you. I am sure you're a savvy lady & know that life without smokes is the best darn thing you can do for yourself. You have a family that relies on you. We care about you & want you to find your best life!

I quit cold turkey 19 years ago. It was hard. I had tried to quit many times before & it simply wouldn't stick. I have no clue why it did stick that final time. In the big picture, I can see where it did help my anxiety/panic. I have no reason to worry about health risks related to smoking. That is all past.

Wishing you lots of luck! Here's the Kick Butt: Quit Smoking board if you need some tips:

Hi there! My sister quit 2 weeks ago using the new rx from her doc called Chantix. Apparently you start it and smoke for first 3 days then not. She said that it made her nauseous when she smoked and so she really didn't want to. I think it's a 2 month program but she has not smoked once since then and our family is dealing with a terminal sibling right now. Unfortunately, what better test than that?
Good Luck! Kelli

I have never smoked, so I have no advice.

Hi Kris,

The last time I smoked was six weeks ago. I
would love to share in this with you.

Please keep posting and we can talk each other
through this hard time.

Good going for making this important decision,
Ann

Hi Kris,

I guess I just really got tired of smoking and all
the burdens that come with it. I've stopped in the past
but it's never the same.
I'm having a lot of anxiety, too much is going on. I
just started taking Zoloft a week ago and hope that it will
start helping me. I'm having anxiety over lifestyle changes
in my career and residence. I have a huge urge for the "feel
good nicotine" but I don't want to smoke at all.

I hope that we can coach each other through this.

Hi Kris,

Is that the "Kick Butt" board?

I wish you the best of luck when you
are ready. I understand that it is very
hard.
