Hi,
I was recently (yesterday) diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and have an appointment with a counselor on Monday. I was wondering if I could hear from others who have been dealing with this and maybe what to expect from therapy? Or how I could get the most from therapy and treatments?
I've already read some stuff online aboutGAD, but would feel better if I could talk to real people who are dealing with it. Thanks!
Intro: I'm in my 30's, married 6 years with a 2 1/2 year old DD. I'm back in school, finishing my AA this spring and planning to transfer to complete my BA. Lots of stress and changes the past few years, my main reason for seeking treatment was how edgy and irritable I get, especially with DH and some physical problems (terrible insomnia, asthma developing).
I hope I can get to ya'll a bit better. This looks like a great board and supportive group.
Smiles,
Dee

Hi Heather,
Thanks for the encouraging words! My DH is really supportive, but I feel so guilty sometimes, because he gets the brunt when I get really edgy and cranky. So I have ended up feeling like I'm sort of trying to handle this alone. It is such a relief to find folks who understand.
Smiles,
Dee
