ep.

Hi, I;m new here. I don't suffer from social anxiety, I'm actually an extrovert. Panick attacks are somewhat new to me. Had my first one almost a yr ago out of the blue in my home. Now the ones I've been getting over the past week are actually over an 'issue' (it's stupid and irrational, long story) anyway everytime i was about to doze off my heart would start racing and I couldn't get to sleep, then the fact that my heart was racing(i feel that is unhealthy) made me panick even more, and the cycle repeated itself. I prayed, tried singing hyms and nothing really seemed to help, the few times it did, it was only short lived.

Please tell me I'm not alone. I didn't sleep a wink, and won't be able to nap today bc hubby will be gone all day today...just my luck lol.

Hello! Glad that you found us. You are NOT alone. For many of us that first panic attack got a grip & we're working to shake it off. It can be done. Learning to allow the scary feelings to pass over us or through us works very well. Reminding ourselves that noone ever died from these attacks is reassuring.

If you haven't seen a dr. about them, now is the time. There are some medical conditions that have symptoms much like panic. Meds & therapy in combination have proved to be the most successful way of treating anxiety/panic. There are many self help techniques in the *coping tips & tricks* folder below. I use belly breathing & meditation to help me when faced with fear. It has helped my racing heart & thoughts that I was having a heart attack. There's also help for sleep problems & reducing stress in our lives. Click on the link in my siggie to join the Get Your Zzzzz's Community Challenge. They will send you an e-mail everyday with tips & there's a message board where you can post if you'd like. No pressure.

Please accept the support that our community gives. Bookmark us to your favorites. Join in chats on Tues. & Thurs. evenings. You can live successfully with panic. We care & want to see you succeed. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

That line says it all.
