It's been quite a week so far...

Monday was interesting. It started with my usual routine: after DH and DD leave in the morning, I have a cup of coffee and dig into my homework. I have Drama reading responses (writing about the reading assignments) due pretty much every MWF at 11am. So I do the reading the night before and crank out the written part in the morning.
I also have Abnormal Psychology and Intermediate Algebra on the same days at noon & 1pm, so I often start those assignments the night before or at least do the readings and may finish them in the morning. I often fly out of the house at 10 to 10:30am with just enough time to get to school, find a parking space and slip into my Drama class on time, then it's the three 50 minute classes stacked up with 10 minutes in between.
So yesterday, I flew out the door without the appointment card for my counseling in the afternoon. I thought it was around 3pm. So after my classes finished, I walked over to the student services area, arriving around 2:20pm. On the walk over, I started to get all anxious over the appt. and was sort of rehearsing what I could say, suddenly I got this sharp pain in my back. (this was totally new) I was like ow, ow...it really hurt! I had to believe it was related to the anxiety and I couldn't believe I was suffering like that over nothing but what was in my head.
When I arrived, all the counselors offices were empty and I couldn't remember which one my appt was with, so I decided to hang out awhile and see who showed up.
The Student Life (activities) office is right there too, so I stopped in to get some posters approved for an Honor Society event. The director came bustling up and asked if I'd been in touch with our faculty advisor about the invitation to lunch with the college President. She was somewhat exasperated and had been emailing him all day. Apparently the college President had invited 6 Honor Society students to his luncheon (today) and she needed to know who was coming...well none of us in PTK had gotten this message, so it was totally news to me! Totally forgetting about my back pain (which miraculously went away), I told her I'd run over to his office and see if I could talk to our advisor about it. Turned out, he'd been in meetings all day and just gotten into his office (looking very stressed out) He was telling me "You're my witness, I'm emailing her in Student Life now and emailing the other Officers about the lunch."
Then I ran back to check on the Counselors, still no one in. So I sat down and studied my Western Religions reading assignment, until my DH came by around 3pm. We went into another office nearby and it turned out there was a secretary with a schedule of appointments...my appointment is for NEXT MONDAY at 3pm.
However, if I had not made the mistake, I wouldn't have gotten to have lunch with the college President today. Again, I managed to get pretty nervous about it beforehand, but it turned out really well. I learned that he has these luncheons every few weeks with different student groups and asked for opinions about the college, what we'd like to see improved etc. He was really personable and interested. I actually ended up talking more than any one else in our group (with the last minute's notice, we had four of us Officer's able to go).
I ended up being late for both my afternoon classes. The luncheon ran over into my Intermediate Algebra and I felt a bit embarassed slipping in 15 minutes late, but at least I just missed some review and not her new lecture.
My other problem was of my own making, I wore some "pretty" shoes that were a little too small (my feet never quite shrank back down after my pregnancy) and my feet were killing me by the time I had to walk across campus to switch classes, which is why I was a few minutes late to last one. I drove home in my socks!
Oy! I wonder how the rest of the week is going to go!
Smiles,
Dee

Hi Jan and Sheri Ann,
Thanks for the encouragement! Most days, I feel like I'm running from one thing to another and never getting it all done.
I had some more help last night from my DH...usually he and I have trouble communicating concepts like computer jargon and math,(He's pretty fluent and me not so much), but he was able to help me understand some of the factoring problems for my Intermediate Algebra that I had to turn in today.
Actually I'm packing for an Iowa Regional conference for PTK, leaving tomorrow at 10am and back around 7pm Friday. All I have to do is relax and enjoy the activities! Oh and our group has to come up with a cheesy cheer for the role call. We have two ladies working on that and it should be a hoot to see what they come up with.
Of course, I'll be doing some catch-up on Monday over the missed classes and already had to arrange to make-up a quiz and a test when I get back. So I'll be studying this weekend and coping with the aftermath of DD & DH alone for two days. LOL Actually DH is awesome with DD.
Have a goodnight,
Dee
