No success on Zoloft?

I've been on Zoloft for 8 weeks now. The first six on 50 mg and the last two on 100 mg and I do not feel any better. I feel anxious all the time and it is driving me insane. Should I wait a little while longer, ask for a different med? Any advice is appreciated.

I am sorry to hear this, Tina. What did the dr. say when the increase was made 2 weeks ago? What is the expected outcome? If the anxiety is intense & interferes with your day-to-day functioning, did you tell the dr. that?

I know this has been suggested before, but have you been trying other ways of coping? Belly breathing works great. Eliminating caffeine & nicotine from your diet. Eating a balanced diet, exercising & getting enough sleep is very helpful. Keeping busy throughout the day especially when the anxiety is @ it's highest works for many of us. There is no medication that will ever take the anxiety away totally. Making a decision that you will forge ahead in spite of it & not allow it to keep a grip on you is a good defense. Replacing negative thinking with positive thinking is effective, too.

It might take longer for the zoloft increase to work. Then again, all meds effect us individually. Sometimes we have to try a couple of meds &

Hello Tina,

I'm curious to ask, is your anxiety more with the Zoloft?
The doctor told me that some medications can effect you
differently.

Just a thought,
I have just started zoloft two weeks ago,
I sure hope it mellows me some,
Ann

I would say no, it isn't worse with it, I feel like it hasn't changed-just staying the same.

Hi,

Getting enough sleep is a problem. I have a baby plus a terminally ill son. The doctor thinks that is part of the problem. I have constant breast pain that no one can figure out and the dr also thinks that is just anxiety related. I do try to stay super busy when my anxiety is at its highest so everything is always organized lol. I just hate feeling like this. I haven't gone a day in months where I was not worrying.

Hi Tina,

Yeah, you have a ton going on and it seems that
when I have too much happening, the medications cannot
take that anxiety away. That's when I try my best to
take deep breaths and sit still for awhile.

I feel like the pills work when I have anxiety that
comes on for no apparent reason.

I sure hope that you can find relief in this and feel
better.
Please let me know how you are doing,
Ann

It sounds to me like you need another med adjustment.

Hi,

She said to come back in six weeks. I think my overall life is just causing me anxiety. I really can't take a break. I do when I can but my main focus is my son. I can't really change anything. Plus I think I'd feel a lot better if this freaking breast pain would go away. I called the doctor today and told them I really do not think this is in my head too and demanded pain medicine and she called some in so hopefully that works.

Thanks for listening,

Tina
