Wow, Withdrawal Symptoms

Well, today is the second day without Ativan. For the past 2 weeks, I was taking half the dose and now I'm not taking it. Now I'm feeling the effects. My tounge is kinda numb and I feel "strange" overall. Really, its the same symptoms as starting the paxil. Hopefully it will not last long. Good thing is that so far, no added anxiety. Can anyone relate? How long did you experience withdrawal symptoms?

wow, you are doing really well!

i've never come off of a benzo, but from what i understand the physical withdrawl should go away in a week or so.

Try to keep busy & think positively. You have that 2 weeks of half a dose under your belt, Candace. That is great work! I don't know what reduction schedule you are following, but when I went off xanax, I dropped a dose every 2 or 3 days. Don't get discouraged if you have to take a half dose, then go back to weaning if you feel really bad. I had some shakiness & near panic feelings that made me take a dose, then follow the reducing again. It's always best to have your doctor follow you during this process. Good luck! Thanks for the info. I did end up taking 1/2 dose on Friday morning. The anxiety was getting too uncomfortable. Most of the time I feel fine, but now and then, I do get anxious. Geez, why can't there be a "perfect pill?" One that would work on every one of us and completely take away the anxiety, panic and depression with zero side effects. I would jump on that in a rapid heartbeat. But, until then, I'll continue to try breathing exercises and prayer and use ativan as needed. Thanks all, again, for the comfort.

You are really toughing it out, Candace. Keep up the good work! I posted a short article in the health folder below on new drugs being developed for anxiety. Let's hope that they'll be helpful to us. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan

I had withdrawal symptoms from Cymbalta. I had severe nausea, headaches, and "zaps" in my head. I felt bad for a little over a week, now I'm doing fine and very glad I quit that evil drug.
