Bad, sleepless night last night

That med I tried yesterday threw me for a loop. Not only was I more anxious than I remember I couldn't sleep a wink last night. I'm a little shaky still today but I think it's from lack of sleep. My Dr. called into the pharmacy for a lower dosage and I'm going to pick it up tonight but I won't use it until Saturday so that I'm not feeling whacked out again at work.
It seems crazy that I have to feel so weird to feel better. I hope this works because I may not be able to use some of the other drugs out there due to the fact I had epilepsy as a kid and into my adult years.
I called the pharmacy around 10:00 pm to see if I could take a sleeping pill and they said yes. I took one at 10:15 and another at 2:30. Since I took the pill about 24 hours ago I'm hoping it will leave my system and I'll feel less anxious and then SLEEP tonight. Last night I didn't think I could drive home from work but my co-worker convinced me I needed to prove to myself I could drive otherwise I'll fall victim to this fear I've developed.
My heart is still pounding a little but I'm a little better. I found that when I ate something it seemed to get into my system and maybe difuse the nervousness? Drank tons of water too - dry-mouth must be a side effect too. Also, even though I've never been addicted to drugs it felt like I had the DTs from what I've read and heard about it. My jaw wants to sort of clench and chew, just like a coke addict when they are jonsing (again, so I'm told or once obsevered at a party).
Okay, let's see how the rest of today goes. Thanks for all of your support ladies.

Try to stay positive, Bennie. I know this is hard for us, but most of what you describe is anxiety. Not side effects from the med, but manifestations of your fear of taking them. One dose wouldn't cause all of this. Certainly not DT's. Even after taking the effexor for several years, the withdrawal doesn't cause such symptoms. It isn't a narcotic.
I hope you sleep better tonight. Let us know how it goes over the weekend. Remember to take the effexor early in the day. It CAN cause sleeplessness & dry mouth. Suck on hard candy & drink plenty of fluids. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
You're not kidding it can cause sleeplessness and dry mouth. The Drs. office told me the nervousness can be a side effect. I'm still feeling shaky. I just called my Drs. office to see what she thinks. I'm ready to check myself into a hospital. The woman at the Drs. office told me she took Effexor and had the same reaction. It was like I drank 10 cups of coffee. How is this suppose to help me out? Sorry, just venting for a minute there.
I'm going to hang in here and try the lower dosage over the weekend. Thanks again,
Bennie

I did a little bit of cleaning too but it wasn't a good comfortable feeling. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I'm better today though. He has me on a very small dosage of Celexa.
