Is everyone mad at me?

Does anyone else ever get worried that everyone is mad at you or hates you, even though you know they don't really have a reason to be mad? Sometimes I feel that way for no reason, and today is one of those days.
Sometimes it's hard to even pinpoint what I'm feeling, but for no reason I'll get anxious and always feel like there's this worry in the back of my mind... it's hard to explain except to say that I think everyone is mad at me... sometimes I feel like they're talking behind my back too...

Am I crazy???

I do that too, so hopefully that does not mean we are both crazy. I always think if someone is quiet or not acting the same towards me, or doesn't return my phone call right away that it is something I did to them or they are mad at me for something I said or did, and 99% of the time it has nothing to do with me they might just be having a bad day, or had a fight with someone, but I still somehow internalize it. I know its really strange but maybe it does have to do with the anxiety or are we just paranoid.

I've never done that but I know plenty of people who have.

Thanks for your reply. Although I have to admit, I take offense when people say I have low self-esteem, becasue I don't think I do, but alot of people make that comment toward me. I guess it's something I need to look at more closely.

That's okay. You know I think there are different degrees and types of low self esteem.

I can see what you're saying. I always thought self-esteem was related to your appearance, and I've never had too many problems with the way I look, never had problems with eating disorders, etc... but in the way that you describe it, I guess I fit that description... can I ask if you have trouble with social anxiety? That has always been my main issue.

I used to have Social Anxiety Disorder but that has totally changed too.

IMHO, self esteem issues involve a lack of confidence. The issues brought up in this thread are discussed alot on the Self Esteem Support board. Here's the link: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhselfesteem

yea, it sounds like we have similar personality types. I can totally relate to running away from people. I just wish the meds worked for me like they have for you...
