How did you find your therapist(counselor, psychologist)?
- I was referred by a health care professional.
- I was referred by a friend, family member, etc.
- I heard about my *T* through the grapevine.
- I happened to see an ad for the *T's* practice.
- I found my *T* by searching the yellow pages.
- I called the local mental health center, medical society, etc.
- I don't have a *T.*
- I knew my *T* from before or by reputation.
- Other. Please share your thoughts.

I saw a therapist for a while, to work through some issues in my marriage. Unfortunately my dh didn't (still doesn't) think he has any problems, but I learned a lot about myself, much to his chagrin! lol It was the best thing I ever did for me.

<I've been aware for many years that I had a depressive episode in my 20's and periods since where I was probably depressed. Then my stressed out/anxiety issues started after going back to school two years ago and I was pretty much aware that I needed some help.
But during Abnormal Psychology class a month or so ago, we started the unit on Mood Disorders and I could see immediately that GAD fit me to a T. I wanted help, but don't have insurance, so I started looking for some type of free counseling or group/clinic etc. Then posters went up for a Free Depression Screening sponsored by the college and I went...thinking that maybe they could refer me to some low cost therapy.
Well I was diagnosed from their survey, very strongly with GAD. My score was like double the amount required for diagnosis. Plus I also scored as moderately depressed, treatment recommended. So I was referred to a campus therapist that is a free service provided by the college. I just went to my second session today and am really hopeful this will help.
My only beef is, that I didn't know about the college therapist last year. I had gone to the college "counseling center" during a very hard time, when a lot of my worst anxiety issues were developing and becoming really bad and was told the only help available was a peer group to "vent" about normal school stresses. I am a bit upset that no one told me there was actually therapy available then, because I really needed it.
But life goes on, I'm not going to look "gift therapy" in the mouth. LOL
