I've been meaning to check back in for a while. My laptop has been down for a while and I'm just too lazy to walk myself upstairs. LOL
As, I'm typing this, I'm having a panic attack!!! First one like this in a really long time. I'm shaking all over, but I guess I'm doing ok. Trying not to get too overwhelmed by it. Took some benedryl a little while ago and I'm waiting to see if it kicks in.
I can't take my ativan at the moment because I'm PREGNANT!!!! I got my BFP on 10/16 and just had my Dr. appt 10/26. ACK!!! Need some advice from you guys that have been/are pg and have panic attacks. I'm trying just to roll with it, but am getting frustrated. I call the Pdoc on call and he said there wasn't much more to do than what I'm doing. I'm really, really trying not to focus too much on it, but it's really hard. Need some encouragement here. I know I'm not dying or going crazy, but I'm afraid and and shaking like crazy. MAN I HATE THIS!!!!
Thanks for reading!!! Chrystal

(((Chrystal))) I am so happy to hear about the coming blessed event. Though panic attacks are miserable & some meds can't be taking during pregnancy, there are others that can. If you have difficulty coping, DO NOT try to go it alone. Get some medical help through meds and/or therapy. Panic attacks aren't good for growing babies or mom's to be.
This is NOT a failure on your part. This is a flaw in your chemistry. The hormonal changes you're experiencing are the likely cause. This may be just a passing phase as you become more adjusted to the hormonal changes. Sending P&PT's your way. I know you have adequate coping skills @ hand. Rely on what you have learned & put them into place.
I shouted you out a few weeks ago, but no reply): I have been concerned because your e-mails have been bouncing. I sure have been worried, gf. Please keep in touch. I am hoping you're feeling better this morning. Good luck! jan
PS What does Noah think about the answer to all of his prayers? LOL
Chrystal, how exciting for you!!

Thanks Jan!!! I'm doing ok right now. Still reeling from last night but I'm hanging in.
I'm still nervous, but who wouldn't be, right? I went and saw a midwife at the OBs office and I saw my pdoc today. I'm determined not to let this get away from me. As I had assumed the midwife said that there isn't much I can take right now for anxiety this early in the pregnancy. She said buspar is a class B, but it didn't do much for me before. The pdoc wants me back up to my full dose of zoloft (was at 100mg now at 50mg). He said he'd much rather me be at my full dose than having panic attacks. I think I would too!! I'll take my full dose tonight and see how I feel in the morning.
Noah is really excited about being a Big Brother!! He's already asked where his old crib is , and we've talked about where the baby's room is going to be (currently the guest room). We want to have him involved in as much as possible and he seems to like it. I have an u/s on 11/9 so he will get to see what the baby looks like then.
About my email, I don't know what's going on there. My laptop has been down, but I've still been checking e-mail from the computer upstairs. Don't have a clue why it would bounce. Maybe my inbox was full. Last email I got was the one of you at Jas' graduation.
I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing.
Chrystal
hi there,
i am not the best example of a pregnant woman...i am a mess anxiety/depression wise...but wanted to say congraduations, and wishing you the best.
i also can't take my xanax, but before becoming preggo i wasn't anxious, so i hadn't taken it in years anyways...of course, then i become preggo and my anxiety shoots throught the roof and theres nothing i can do but resort back to my coping skills....
they're not working to well right now, but i "hope" that i'm feeling this badly because of my hormones and once the baby comes out and my hormones settle down, i'll be back to normal.
let me know how things go w/your p doc, i'd be interested in what he/she has to say and what they do w/your meds.
i currently am taking paxil (i've been on it for 10 years), and the pdoc perscribed me zyprexa for anxiety, but i don't think its helping much...but its a "safer" drug to take than xanax..
are you taking any meds now?
feel free to email me at any time if you'd like to chat.
Sounds like your doc is going to help you through this!!
The hormones are running wild BUT I am sure you know that LOL
I wish you many happier and more comfortable days! Judy
Chrystal,
Congratulations!
Getting more emotional when you are pregnant is completely normal, so I can see where that might enhance problems like panic attacks. I've read there are medications you can take, check with your doctor.
Two days before I found out I was pregnant with DD, I was getting really frustrated with a new dispatcher and ended up chewing out her (and my) supervisor. (very out of character for me!)
Hugs,
Dee
