Mono???

I have had an AWFUL sore throat and fever and I went to the DR today, sure that I had strep.

The strep came out neg and she thinks that it may be mono. I have to go back later for bloodwork to find out for sure.

Of course my anxiety is through the roof. I have a fever so I keep getting hot flashes and chills, it is hard to tell myself that it is OK and that I am just sick.

I suppose I am just venting...

I know that physical illness can be a real trigger. It's hard, but you'll have to stay calm & wait out the test results, Heather. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids & if you're allowed, take tylenol & sucrets for your throat pain. Sending P&PT's your way. I know you can do this. (((hugs))) jan

R U belly breathing through the chills? I have had to do that.

Thanks Jan,

Yes I am belly breathing. I have such a hard time sitting still.. I find that's when the anxiety sits in. I did just get 2 new books from amazon so I have something to do.

I just HATE this and I feel myself slipping.. at least I have great coping tools and know what it is and how to deal with it.

Hugs,

Heather

Don't get all freaked out, Heather, you haven't had the test yet & they can't tell if it's mono without bloodwork.

Heather we have a virual cold/flu going on around here, which most of my family including me has been suffering through. I was positive I had to have strep but turns out to be this cold/flu. Mel's doctor and our friend the Doc in Indiana both say we can treat the sympotons but not the virual itself that just needs to work it's way out of your system. Your part of the country may be suffering from this also.

Sending lots of good wishes that it's not mono. I had mono when I was 9 years old. I was in bed for 3 weeks, and home for another 2. And I'm sure I didn't have it as bad as when you are older.

The main thing is whatever you have is to take good care of yourself. You need to be pampered and waited on. I am sure you have zero energy and feel like death warmed over. Please let other people take care of you.

I hope the results turn out negative, but even if it's not mono, it could be a related virus (I had that too a couple years later)...

Big hugs,
Emily
