Yet another visit to a doctor

I feel like I have spent a LOT of time in doctors' offices in the last month.

Saw a psychiatrist today. He said the current meds I am on (Lexapro and Xanax) are fine. He did say he didn't want me using the Xanax to "sleep". If I take it for anxiety symptoms that's fine, but don't use it to fall asleep every night. He gave me a coupon to get Ambien. He thinks that when the Lexapro is fully effective I won't need any meds to sleep.

Phew.

I feel that I am making progress. When I think it's not going as quickly as I'd like, I have to remind myself that this has only been going on for a month. One of the longest months ever, but still only a month.

I just want to thank Jan and Sheri Ann and the rest of you guys for being so supportive. Your posts have been so helpful and encouraging. I have a friend at work who has suffered from anxiety, and like she said - no one can truly understand unless they've been through it.

We had a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in Chicago today. I hope all of you had a nice day too.

Hi,

It was gorgeous here in Iowa today too, but I heard that a huge blizard is supposed to hit N of us tonight...possibly 48 inches of snow!!!

Just supposed to have "flurries" and no accumulation here...man I hope so. I was just enjoying this warm spell and didn't even get outside much today.

Smiles,
Dee

I started taking Lexapro at night on Tuesday and it has made a big difference. I am still taking Xanax at night just because my anxiety kicks in then. But my doctor thinks once the Lexapro takes full effect I'll find I won't need it.

I have to agree with the dr. I always found that after 4 to 6 weeks, the antidepressant covered my anxiety/panic. I would only take an occasional xanax or in the last couple years, a klonopin. Hopefully you are on the right track & will be putting this behind you soon. Good luck! (((hugs))) jan
