Have any of you made any changes in your diet to try and alleviate your anxiety? I did a little surfing, and the common themes seem to be cut down on sugar, caffeine and alcohol.
Are there any foods that you find make you feel better? I've been eating more fruit (since I'm not eating candy or chocolate like I used to). In the morning I'm having grape nuts with raisins vs. my old sugary cereals because I feel like it has more staying power.
I read somewhere that more protein and complex carbs are good. My diet was pretty balanced before all this started except for my diet Coke habit and eating little bits of chocolate (Tootsie Rolls, Hershey kisses, etc) throughout the day.
I gave up caffeine (diet Coke) but I may buckle on that one... I am pretty tired by the afternoons now! LOL My sleeping has been all messed up for weeks and I'm just getting back on track (6-8 hours a night now for the last few nights) so maybe the energy will come back when my body clock settles down again.

I just can't do more than my half cup of coffee in the morning. Too much & I am wired, anxious, can't sleep & my pulse increases. It's a definite trigger to my panic attacks. I quit smoking 19 years ago & that really helped. I require plenty of water or I notice I feel tired & washed out. No sleep for a couple of days & it's anxiety city for me):
Take a look @ the anti-anxiety diet here on iVillage. There's some excellent info, especially keeping hydrated. HTH (((hugs))) jan

Thanks for the tips!
The Omega3 info is interesting - my BIL and his wife swear by fish oil tablets and my DH recently started taking them to help with his ADD. I'll have to ask him if he's noticed a difference.

Well, like the commercial says...I started grabbing a V-8 at school when I need a snack or don't have time for lunch and it works great for me. I feel better & get some lasting energy without the sugar rush & crash.
