When something good happens to you, what do you think?

  • I deserve it!
  • This is unexpected but I like it!
  • I feel a bit uneasy. Puzzled. Hmm...
  • It's a fluke but I'm happy.
  • It's a fluke and it's going to be taken away.
  • I don't deserve this.
  • Nothing good ever happens to me.
  • I hope it doesn't get taken away.
  • Boy, was this a mistake or what?
  • Other. Please feel free to share.

When something good happens, my first thought is always that God is watching over me & taking care of me :)

I am always puzzled, confused & a bit suspicious of *good things.* You know what they say? If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck @ all;) I like good things & accept them, but had trouble with it in the past. Always felt undeserving. It does seem that I need to keep working on that self-esteem. JMHO jan

So few good things happen to me that whenever something good *does* happen, my immediate thought is to wonder when the other shoe will drop and how the good thing won't last because it never does.

Please don't anybody say that it's in my imagination about good things rarely happening to me and how my perception is all wrong. My therapist and I have discussed this on several occasions, and she has *agreed* with me that I don't have enough good things in my life, that too many bad things happen and that's why I take disappointment so hard--because I don't have enough good stuff in my life to balance it all out.
