Anxiety books? Advice?

Two weeks ago I started going to a therapist and was told I have Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This weekend I found out that I'm losing my health insurance so this week will be my last therapy session. I've been doing positive affirmations which have been helping. I also got a book called "From Panic to Power". Are there any other books I should get until I can start going to therapy again? I have no clue how long it's going to be, I'd have to find a job that offers health insurance.

Thanks!

Hello! Nice to see you;) You are NOT alone. Many of the issues you're facing, others in our caring community have experienced. I have alot of anxiety about my health & panic attacks.

There are many alternatives to traditional meds & therapy. Please check out our *coping tips & tricks* folder below. Make sure you click on the MORE button, as there are several pages. I bumped up our Self Help book thread for you. Also, Health & Well Being has their own psychiatrist. Read what she had to say recently about social anxiety: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhpanic&msg=21636.1&ctx=0

Hi,

About ten years ago, before my diagnosis with GAD, I found a really humorous, but very helpful book called "Taming Your Gremlin". It was a thin paperback with comic illustrations. Barnes and Noble could probably track it down, if it is still in print.

Now that I'm taking psychology classes at college, I recognize that the book was based on Cognitive psychological theory. I wish I could find my copy...it's packed away in my messy storage unit somewhere. I'd like to reread it. LOL

Smiles,
Dee

In addition to the tips the others have given you, I have found that several clinics offer therapy at a reduced cost for those without insurance.

I also talked to my psychiatrist and she said I can get a reduced rate.

Thank You!!! :-)
