Hi am new here. I am 19 years old and have suffered from different kinds of anxiety problems since I was 14. I know I am doing better then I did when I was 14, but lately I am very overwhelmed with things. I do have a problem with depression and do get pretty anxious at night lately, which is why I am here at midnight. I am taking medications and seeing therapists and my dr. I am going to school and living at home with my parents. Life is just hectic I guess and I have trouble coping. You know what iVillage needs? A board for those with anxiety AND depression.

Thanks, Kristina for sharing your meds & the illnesses in your family. You have been very stressed. I am sending P&PT's for your mom's full recovery. I am sorry to hear about your grampa's death. If you have thoughts of suicide, you should seek help immediately. Don't allow yourself to get caught up in the thoughts & act on them. Please consider visiting the iVillage board for these concerns. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhsuicidesur

I am promoting the cancer board for this month. Although I lost my only sister to ca, I am sorry to say that I rarely visit the iVillage board. She was in hospice care near the end of her life & our family was seen by a social worker. Then, I attended a grief support group that was very helpful. I hope you have something like that available to you.

I was on luvox & klonopin(clonazepam) when I was severely anxious & depressed. That is a good combination. Good luck with them. So many of us report increased anxiety during our periods. Also, I hope you have a good relationship with your worker. It's necessary to have alot of trust to discuss the past issues that have been concerning to you. Having suffered sexual abuse as a child, I know that this is a very sensitive area.

I am glad to hear that you have support systems in place. Also, getting involved with others keeps us focused off our troubles. We all need people connections. Keep posting. We care about you & are here for any support you might need. (((hugs))) jan

Welcome! You are in the right place. I think many of us have suffered from depression along with anxiety. I was recently diagnosed with a panic and anxiety disorder, which I suspect may be partly hormonal - I had postpartum depression 6 years ago and that was like a big hormonal crash and similar in some ways to what I experienced this time around.

It sounds like you have reached out for help and have made good use of the resources available to you. It takes a strong person to do that, and I think you are on the right track.

I am taking Klonopin to help me sleep and it has been a big help. The nighttime anxiety is the pits isn't it? I always say that I would never wish this condition on anyone, I think it is truly horrible. But I have come very far in the last couple of months. It's sounds like you have made tremendous progress with so many stresses in your life. Take care.
