Weaning off Klonopin

I've been taking .5 mg of Klonopin for a month now. My sleep has been great. Almost too great. LOL My psychiatrist told me I could wean off whenever I want. He just suggested cutting the pills in half.

I've been sleeping so well but feeling kind of groggy in the mornings. So I thought I would start cutting back on the Klonopin and see how that goes.

Any advice?

That's what I did. I cut my 0.25mg. tabs in half for a couple of days. Then, took just one(1/2) tab for a couple of days. Then, took none. I was off in about 8 days. It was alot easier than xanax several years ago. I got really shaky, sweaty & scared inside. I had to cut the halfs into fourths, then into pieces. It took me about 3 weeks. Yikes! But, everyone is different & the meds effect us in different ways. Good luck to you. Please let us know how it goes. (((hugs))) jan

Thanks for the advice! I cut one in half last night - fell asleep okay but had a restless sleep - due more to the fact that it rained all night and I have skylights in my bedroom. LOL

I'm relieved to hear it's easier to get off than Xanax. I went right from Xanax to Klonopin so didn't experience any withdrawals but I was very paranoid about getting addicted to Xanax. My doctor said I am on a pretty low dose of Klonopin so it shouldn't be a big deal.
