Hi guys-
My dr sugessted I increase my Lexapro from 10 to 20mgs. I said no then because I was afraid (what else is new) I want to do it now. I took 10 mg at noon then another 10 at 6:30 out of frustation. My question is, should I take 2 at once or split it? I have 1 year worth of 10mgs cause I said no to 20 so it will last me 6 months instead. Will I have side effects? I dont have my xanax yet, I hope this doesnt make me worse. Sherriann said her dr said 20 mg is the min to make a difference so that has been on my mind all day. Who else takes 20 mgs? Is that alot? I may take Benadryl tonight if my anxiety keeps me awake. God, I hate this feeling.

Hi Sylvia and everyone,

Sylvia, welcome to the board. Everyone else-I started on the 20 mgs Wed. Im feeling very very anxious. I have a dull headache, slight ringing in my ears and a little neaseous. I have an old perscription for xanax XR 1 mg. The XR is makes me very sleep for a very long time but at this point until I get the .50, Im going to take it. I remember feeling this way on 10 mgs too for a short time so Im hanging in . Its 3:41pm and Im still in my pj's. I told my DH this morning I upped my dose because I had to explain my lethargy. In the past he has shown little support for my anxiety but to my suprise, he was concerned and talked to me about it. I feel cloudy, fuzzy. My DH leaves Mon for Fl and Ill be here alone with the baby. Im so scared to be alone. I hope I feel better soon.
Hugs,
Donna

hi Donna
I know everyone is different but i was also on xanax 1 mg xr for a long time. then it got increased to 2 mg xr and i was on that for a long time. My body got used to it. Now that I have made changes in my life (several) i no longer need the xr. i am on it as needed.
You will get used to it but you have to give it time.
Hope this helped a little

Thank you, Sylvia. The XR lasts much longer than the regular xanax. I took it around 4. It makes me sleepy and I have a 2 yr old but fortunetly my dh is here to care for her. Funny, I dont see much about the xanax xr on the boards. I guess its not perscribed as much. Im feeling ok now, thanks for respopnding and Im glad you came to a point where you could control your anxiety. I have been dealing with this since my mid 20's. Uggh. It gets real bad then is under control for a while. Now its back with the move and new transition.

(((Donna))) Whenever I increased my dose, I had the same side effects.

Donna, I took the XR & it kicked my butt! I went back on the regular Xanax.
