Anxiety Creating Fatigue

Hi All -

I have what I believe is general anxiety ... worrying excessively about everything and have what feels like a rapid heart beat, although it is within normal limits. I have been tested for medical problems and seen several therapists. Because I am healthy and the anxiety doesn't severely interfere with my life, everyone seems to dismiss the fact that I may have a problem. What is stressing me out the most is that I am unable to get a restful night's sleep, I think because my body or mind is so wound up all day, and I wake up tired. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how they resolved it. I would give just about anything to wake up rested in the morning. I am working on some relaxation techniques and hope they will help once I get in a habit. Thanks!!

imageHi, Angel! Nice to see you on the board. I am sorry to hear about your distress. I believe that you need to get confirmation that you have an anxiety disorder. We can't do that for you. Can you see a psychiatrist or psychologist to confirm what you have thought? In spite of the tests that you have had done, anxiety is real & needs treated. It can lead to health problems as well as loss of daily functioning.

Please scroll below to our *coping tips & tricks* folder. There's alot of info on de-stressing, relaxation, mediation & even sleep. The worry links are great! I try to avoid upsets @ bedtime. No arguing,

Hi Angel,

Welcome!!! Jan gave some great advice, I don't have a lot to add, just that I know how much anxiety and loss of sleep can exhaust you and both problems seem to cycle into each other. I hope you can find relief and help from your docs and the support here. This is a friendly bunch and been really a blessing since I found the board.

Hugs,
Dee
