Hey everyone,
I guess this is a follow up post to the post I wrote earlier today. I'm going to post this on the AD message board as well, but I just wanted all of your opinions too. If you didn't read my earlier post it basically just talked about how confused I am in my current relationship and the anxiety Iv'e been experiencing. Before I do something stupid and loose this man I'm trying to weed out all the possible reasons my meds (prozac) has not kicked in yet (Iv'e been on them for three weeks).
I have been using alcohol to self medicate latley. I probably drink about four to five times a week. I know this is not good or healthy what so ever, I am just having the hardest time I have ever had in my life. I was wondering how much alcohol affects the prozac? Since starting it I have not noticed a difference and I feel like i'm getting worse and I was wondering if my excessive drinking (it's anywhere from two glasses of wine to 8-10 shots of whiskey a night)is a huge factor. Last night I had six beers. I know this is wrong, but I just almost broke it off with him again while I was in a panic so now i'm willing to try anything I can to get better before I do something i'll regret. I want to give everything my best shot before I make a decision on what to do in this situation.
Thanks for your replies and opinions.

The mixing of antidepressants & alcohol can be dangerous. Noone ever thinks it will happen to them, but sometimes it does. Noone knows the exact combination that will be that *one time* it takes, to cause an unintentional or accidental overdose. This is very risky.
Since antidepressants work
In addition to what Jan said, I think it's important that you share your drinking patterns with your doctor, as he is prescribing the prozac to you probably without knowing that you are combining it with alcohol.
