Well, I hope that I am making this bigger than it is going to be, but I doubt it.

I think talking to a higher up is a good idea. One point to bring up to them is that if they assign these tasks to someone who is unqualified, then they could be SUED (not to mention you, but make sure you bring up potential risks to the organization because we all know that's what they really care about). I also would not want to be the therapist signing off on work done by unqualified staffer. You may want to approach the therapist and see if you can present your case together.

It must be frustrating, Yavonne. I am sure that in the back of your mind, you worry about your job security if you confront this woman. Like many folks, I am sure you need your job.

Is there an owner of your clinic? Who is is in charge of quality assurance? Perhaps putting a bug in their ear will help this woman see the error of her ways. I'm not sure where you're located but in most states, your duties are required to be performed by licensed professionals. The entire facility & ALL the employees are in jeopardy. Good luck! I hope you can get your point across without reprisals. (((hugs))) jan

I hope I don't have to go that far, but if I do, oh well.

I will talk to her first, and if she gives me trouble, I will take it higher.

Hi Yavonne,

I agree, your boss should not be asking you to do perform physical therapy on a patient that you are not certified or trained to do. I hope the talk with her goes well. I was wondering...maybe you could offer to take training/certification in that type of task if work pays for it (and later you can hit them up for more pay for doing it...now that you have more training! LOL) This could be an opportunity? Good luck, I hope the situation work out okay.

Smiles,
Dee
