Hi, Rebecca! Depression & anxiety seem to go hand in hand. Research has shown the connection & folks have reported it on this board. After the birth of my second dd, I had an awful spell of anxiety/panic. It seems that major life events, moves, losses, health issues, death & trauma is a trigger to our anxiety. Anyhoo, I was so upset by the panic attacks & my inability to drive, that I fell into a depression. Sometimes, I have felt through the years that I trade one off for the other. If my anxiety is ok, then I'm depressed or vice versa.

As for what you are experiencing while dropping off to sleep or awakening from sleep, that paralyzed feeling is common & can be explained by your dr. I have had it too & it's scary. OTOH, it could be part of anxiety. Please make certain you discuss this thoroughly with your dr. They can do a sleep study & see what is happening through the brain waves. I'm not suggesting it's serious in any way. I know from experience that sensations are upsetting & triggering to us. I have often needed testing to reassure me that I was ok. Anxiety messes with our heads sometimes & makes us fearful of what we don't understand. Seeing the results in black & white can get it nailed down for you & then give you the opportunity to put it behind you. Good luck! Keep in touch! (((hugs))) jan

Hi Rebecca!! Congratulations on your marriage, that is wonderful! You know that you and your husband will be in my thoughts.I can relate to your dreams you've been having, I had them years ago and I called them "concrete dreams" as I felt unable to get out of them and finally woke myself up scared to death, because I felt like my mind was going out of control. I'm not sure what causes it, but I do feel it is anxiety related. I never sought help about them.

Best wishes and welcome to the board!
