I haven't called the therapist that my dr. gave me. I don't know what to say. What do I ask, what do I say when I call? Does insurance cover therapy? How do I get started? Please anyone that can offer advice....thanx
Mandi

You could call your insurance carrier to see what they cover. The therapist may also be able to tell you what your insurance covers. I would look into that first, before you go into meet him or her in person. If they are not covered by your insurance I would try to find a therapist who is.
When you call to make the appt just tell the therapist you were referred by your doctor. He or she will ask why your doctor referred you, and they will take it from there. Let them know about any physical symptoms you are experiencing and any medications you are taking. Some therapists will talk to you on the phone at some length before meeting with you, others will wait to see you in person.
Hi Mandi, when I called my therapist, he did all the talking, checked into my insurance, etc..
