Hi there -
I am new to this board - my best friend has been on it for years and loves it so I thought that I would give it a shot.
I have suffered from bouts of depression and boosted that up to anxiety upon the birth of my two sons. I have to admit - I am VERY lucky. Great family, great kids, wonderful supportive husband but I can't seem to get past this anxiety. I am tired of the debilitating days when I can't even function. I have been on lexapro for 3 years and I am getting to the point that I want to try and handle this on my own. I hate the side effects of drowsiness, nausea, headaches. Maybe it is age but my memory is going to pot as well. (I'm only 38) I cant remember conversations that I had last week and that isn't good in my job.
Does anyone have any suggestions on doing this? I know that I can't do it cold turkey and plan on talking to my doctor. I just wanted to know if anyone had tried anything that worked or even helped. I started taking B-12 and I get massages on a regular basis to help with the stress. (Unfortunately - I am in a high stress job. I am a Special Education Teacher and Case Manager in a Middle SChool but I love what I do)
Sorry that this was so long winded but I would apreciate any feedback.
Thanks.....

Hello! It's nice to see you;) I am sorry to hear about what you're experiencing. I cannot imagine feeling this way for 3 years. That must be awful): IMHO, either the lexapro isn't working or you're under more stress than you realize. Difficulty concentrating & forgetfulness has been reported by others with anxiety/depression. Also, I think
I know that I am under alot of stress at work right now (and a situation that screams paranoia) so I am trying to keep it under control but it is getting hard. I don't want this to effect my family but I am having a tough time keeping it together and the pills that I can take for the interim panic attacks make me want to curl up and SLEEP (Not a way to handle it either!)Therefore - I don't usually take them. In the past, I have been able to work through it but I am hanging on the edge of this one and can't seem to get on top of it. When I get a foothold, I slip again. Thanks for listening to my vent.
I know that I have a long road ahead of me and I just need to keep chuggin'
Thanks
