Hello, I am new here looking for some online help/support.

I am having some major anxiety issues about my health. I never used to be this way and I want to go back to my old self. Every new ache, or pain or itch or anything, I think I have a disease. It is awful!! It controls my life, I am driving my husband crazy, and I just want to live my life without being crazy.

For a brief background, I tried Wellbutrin back in October. At that time, I got a sinus infection, but I had never had a sinus infection and thought that this was a brain tumor. CRAZY!!!!! So, I went off the awful stuff and had terrible issues coming off, from nervousness, burning sensations all over my body, etc...HORRIBLE!! So now, since then I am still battling this dang sinus off and on and every ache or pain or itch or whatever, I feel that I have a disease!!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME AND HOW DO I GET MYSELF BACK?????

I don't want meds, I am scared to try anything....any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi! Nice to see you;) You are NOT alone! Many of us with anxiety disorders have been scared out of our wits by health issues. Real or imagined. If I get a headache, I am convinced of a brain tumor. Never one that can be treated, but the worst possible kind without any hope of recovery): It is difficult to cope with *catastrophic* thinking. It IS possible.

I have had spells of anxiety in the past when I was unable to function in everyday life. Research indicates that meds in combination with therapy will bring improvement to 80% of the people who use that method. I found that personally to be true. Though you had a bad experience with wellbutrin, there are other antidepressants that work well for anxiety & other families of antidepressants that you might not be as sensitive too.

There are alternatives. Some folks have tried yoga, relaxation exercises, hypnosis, accupuncture, massage, etc. We have a *coping tips & tricks* folder below. I taught myself belly breathing & also, ways to worry less & more effectively. There IS hope. Don't be discouraged. All of us are *works in progress*. Many people have regained their old lives.

Drop into chat. There's one scheduled tonight. Read the post & click on the link. We'll save you a seat. We care about you & want the best life you deserve. Good luck & GBU! (((hugs))) jan

Hi, I hope you are feeling better and just wanted to share something that helped me - the tape series from Midwest Center for Anxiety and Depression from Lucinda Bassett...especially if you are afraid of meds.

Thank you. I think I am feeling better.

I actually heard an advertisment for her video this weekend and considered it.

So wierd.

Thanks again!

Glad you are feeling better and thanks for your reply. You could also check out her books at the library if you don't want to spring for the tapes...haven't read the books yet but they are likely very good. Hope you are doing better!

Thanks! I am doing much better!

I might check the library for her books!

I bought a Beth Moore book the other day. Talking about "getting out of that pit" It is a religious book, I haven't started it yet, but I was really into her show one night when I was flipping through the channels!

So we will see....

Thanks again!

Our church just had a simulcast - Beth Moore - Get out of that pit! I didn't go (because I didn't think I could sit that long and watch!) Everyone said it was really good. Funny you mentioned that! Let me know how the book goes - I wondered if it would cover worry, depression, etc. Thanks! Elaine
