Day 4 on Zoloft
| Sun, 02-11-2007 - 9:02pm |
Update:
Okay so horrible first day with the headache, nausea and diarrhea. The next day, some queasiness and still headaches. 3rd day - no nausea or diarrhea but definitely headache, dry mouth and dizziness. Also, tired but having a hard time sleeping. I am trying to push through to give it a good couple of weeks of try out, but it's hard. Every night I sit deciding if I should keep going. I keep getting odd pains in my head and I keep assuming it's the Zoloft doing something bad to me. Scary and weird question - but is there any reason I should worry about like...dying from taking zoloft? See? Now you know I am anxious! I am still only on half a pill, but I feel comfortable staying there for a couple more days before going up.
Thanks

Sending GBH's your way. I have felt exactly as you do. It's hard, but you have to keep things in perspective. Zoloft is a safe med & wouldn't be on the market if people were dying with it. Your dr. knows what's best for you. All meds affect each of us differently. If you still have concerns that need addressed, call your dr. or pharmacist.
The side effects you have listed are all common & listed about zoloft. Think positively. Keep busy & don't focus on the health fears. These are clear signs of anxiety & the reason why you're on the med. In fact, zoloft is great when it comes to treating anxious thoughts & fears. I am sending P&PT's your way. GL! jan
I agree with Jan. Try to hang in there and keep busy. I know it's hard. I went on Zoloft a few years ago after suffering post partum depression and severe panic attacks for years. At first, I was so afraid that the meds were going to hurt me and I had myself convinced they weren't going to work...but you have to give it time. It takes a while for the seratonin levels to increase and in the process you may have a "funny head" feeling- some people relate it to having small "zapping" sensations -I always said it felt as if I was short circuiting. Hang in there, it will get better. But if for some reason after giving it some time it still doesn't feel right definitely contact your physician or therapist. HOpefully this will be the med for you. Hang tight....will your therapist or physician be willing to give you anything to help take the edge off until the meds kicked in (i.e. xanax or ativan?)-
Glad you found the board and give us a shout out anytime you need support. Keep us updated.....

I have Xanax - 0.25 mg pills. I may take one tonight to try and see if it can help me sleep better. I think that is exactly what I am feeling! Dizzy, fuzzy head and like zapping feelings! Does that go away? I don't think I can feel like this forever. I used to feel dizzy when I was anxious, so I sure as heck don't want to feel dizzy when I am on meds to make the anxiety better!
Thank you both for the positive thoughts. I am hoping it works!
