Just curious... do most of you see a psychiatrist or family doctor for meds and such. I am trying to decide if I should maybe just go to a psychiatrist who specializes in this versusmy doctor. Any thoughts would be helpful :-)

I started with my ob/gyn and then started seeing a psychiatrist. I felt that the p-doc was more knowledgeable on how the meds work, side effects, etc. He also had more time to deal with it than my ob/gyn.

Nowadays, doctors are trained in dealing with mental health issues that are short term in nature. For me, my anxiety & @ times depression have been long term. My internist worked closely with my pdoc. However, ITA with peoplearenuts. Pdocs do better with meds. Just starting out, I feel everyone should see their medical doctor to rule out physical causes of a/d & then make referrals to a pdoc & *t* as needed. (((hugs))) jan

I see a pdoc, I think they are so much more informed about drug cocktails, interactions, dosing, etc...
