new p-doc is great!

I just got back from seeing my new p-doc, and I really liked her. She seemed to "get" me and listened to what I was saying. She didn't dismiss me as being difficult and stubborn when I expressed my concerns about certain medications (SSRIs to be exact). She's looking for physical explanations for my symptoms in addition to emotional (she ordered blood work to test for several things). And she gave me meds!

I was worried because when I start my new job in a few weeks, I'll be sans insurance for 45 days. Well, she gave me enough prescriptions to last through that time. I'm going to get everthing filled while I have insurance, and she ordered enough pills so I should be fine without needing refills. We discussed my history and how my biggest concern right now is this overwhelming anxiety I seem to have all the time. So that's taken care of too. I won't have to do without Klonopin or Inderal. Even though I don't take them much, my anxiety has increased such that I want to have a supply on hand for when I need it.

Good visit. I'm going to see her again in a couple of weeks right before I leave.

Laura your pdoc sounds great. I just wish we could all find ones that seem so understanding and caring. I know I'm searching for a new one but with no insurance at all and having to depend on government programs the looking isn't going real well. But hey at least I'm trying.
