Crazy moodiness!!

I didn't expect my moods to fly from one end to the spectrum to another on a daily basis. Yikes! I feel like a crazy person. Usually I'll start off fine when I wake up. A few hours later I start feeling antsy. (I haven't been working much at all lately.) Then my son wakes up so I play with him and stuff and I'm fine. He naps, I start looking for jobs online and fill with anxiety again. Eventually I calm down and manage to enjoy the rest of my day, but it really stinks when I have days like that and my irritability effects everyone around me. Le sigh. Luckily this doesn't happen EVERY day. Yesterday went well. Just wanted to know if anyone had any special tips on how they manage to balance their moods. :) Happy VDay everyone.

I don't think I have the moodiness you describe, but maybe you ought to ask my family. Maybe I'm the last one to know;)

I do have a hard time with depression. I am always trying to find new ways to ward off the *down* feelings. Some days I want to stay in bed, but know that won't solve anything. It annoys me that there's these PERKY people all around me. Are they ON something? LOL Or, are they putting up a front like sometimes I am forced to do? I also have increased anxiety & irritability just before my period.

It is the pits that we have to experience this. Sending GBH's your way. jan

Hey there...I have found that when I am feeling antsy that moving around and doing things around the house, anything that you see that needs to be done, helps my anxiety alot. I also have not been working since last August due to the anxiety and some pretty bad health problems, and most of my anxiety is in the morning as I am anxious about starting my day, but I tell myself just get up, get moving, do what you need to do, and there have been a couple of times where I have been so frusterated that I just tear the house apart and clean and mop and everything, and afterwards I am calmed down. Walking helps alot too...its almost like the nervous energy just needs to bust out lol is that how you feel sometimes? The moodiness I think comes along with it...its frusterating to go what we go through and mine is HORRIBLE when I have my period...that week we can just forget about it because I am going to be a sobbing mess that whole time lol...one of my fav things to do if i need to calm down is curl up with a fav blanket and a hot cup of tea, and watch a good movie or tv show. but I have found that physical activity helps alot, unless I am just too wiped that day to do much. and if you don't have anxiety about leaving the house ( i do, and it sucks lol) then just getting out and driving around or going to a store and just looking helps too...keep me posted!! I hope this helped a little...

I agree with Krista, keeping busy helps the most.

Ahhh thank you everyone for the great advice. I LOVE this board. ;) I feel like no one around me truly understands it. My boyfriend understands me better than anyone, probably because he has to deal with me (lol). I tried explaining it to his mom, and she says "I think some of it goes away as you get older and mature"... ... and I secretly hope so. lol. But she doesn't get it. Anyhow, I do try to do chores around the house when I can. Mainly I'm frustrated by being unable to find a job. Oh yeah and the whole period thing will definitely drive me up the wall. I get mine right on the first so I'm sorta in between right now. I'm definitely going to stay with this board. You ladies understand me better than anyone around me seems to.

Today I'm feeling a little old. It seems like most of you are talking about having periods and I am post-menopausal. Not like one is any more fun than the other; but I was very fortunate with my periods; I didn't really have mood swings. Menopause, however, has kicked me in the posterior big time. I'm not taking any hormones and prefer not to. Have any of you out there had increased anxiety/depression with menopause? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I used to work at Vitamin World and there were a few supplements that were hot sellers for it - Soy, and Red Cohosh. Don't know if they interact with any medicines or anything, so, you may want to ask the doctor.

welcome30.gifHi, Christine. Nice to see you posting. I am 54 & such a worry-wort when it comes to health issues. I am not menopausal yet, but have been fretting about it for some time. I worked with 2 women who had an awful time with hot flashes. They would get so anxious when they flushed & everything had to come to a stop while they fanned themselves & wiped the perspiration off. I guess since I hate any sort of *sensations* that is probably my biggest fear. Just wondering what I can expect. I have had trouble with hormones in the past & like you would like to do it au naturale if I could;) (((hugs))) jan
