Lexapro?

Hi everyone:
I am sorry it's been a few days. Work has been nothing but stress and that hasn't been fun for my anxiety! Not to mention my ex is coming into town this weekend to visit - ahh! Anyway, I am now off the Zoloft and feel much better. However, I am not against giving something else a trial run before giving up. The other medicine my doc recommended was Lexapro - I know some of you take it with success. Can you tell me what side effects you had, what the usual dosage is, etc.? I am going to call my doc early next week to call in a prescription and give it a try. Until then, the Xanax is my friend. :)
Thanks!

I am on 10 mg. of Lexapro which is what I started out on.
I had lots of side effects the first 2 weeks. It made my anxiety worse initially. I was kind of wired for a few days, I had a 'buzz head.' Like I had drunk way too much caffeine or something. What else? I had a stiff jaw, some headaches. All the side effects were gone after 2-3 weeks.
I take mine at night because it makes me tired when I first take it.
One of my friends said she started taking it gradually - 1/2 pill for a few days, then up to a whole pill, so she didn't experience the side effects as badly that way. Some people don't get side effects at all, so I wouldn't worry too much about them (easier said than done when you have anxiety LOL). Just give it a couple of weeks and see how you feel.
I am glad that you are willing to give another med a try.

I started taking Lexapro about a month ago and it really has helped me. My dosage is only 10mg for now, but it seems to be helping. Since I have started to take it I get some headaches and the usual "sexual side effects." I feel better, less worrying. And I really have not had a panic attack, at least a really bad one since. I can actually fall asleep at night, but I think I can thank my Xanax for that. I have a dr. appt. tomorrow to follow-up on everything. I can talk to my dr. too. Let me know if you have any other questions. Many hugs.....
