Really scared

I started feelin light headed and weak last night and continued to have these braid zaps. I took an anitvan and was able to sleep. When I got up this morning, I fainted. I stayed in bed all day because I feel dizzy and faint. I'm getting over a cold with chest congestion, so I'm hoping that is all it is. The thing that scares me is that when I took wellbutrin, after 2 months on it, I was having bad fainting spells and had to stop taking it. I've been on paxil for 9 months, so I really hope this isn't from my meds. It has been working so well for me and I would hate to stop taking it. When I'm not on an ad, I have such severe anxiety that I've been suicidal. Please pray for me that the fainting/dizziness is only from a virus!

Hi there! I have a question! The day you had the dizziness and "brain zaps" did you by chance miss taking your Paxil, or take it later than your normal time? I am just wondering because the dizziness and the brain zaps are symptoms of paxil withdrawl also. I was on Paxil for 3 yrs (loved it) but decided to wean off of it. Even weaning of 2.5mg a week, I still had the w/d symptoms for a day or so everytime I went down. The brain zaps are the weirdest feeling and with mine, I also had wierd eye twitching that would go simulatiosly with heart palps. The dizziness also, sometimes so bad it felt like the room did a huge, quick "flip". Anyway, if you missed your med, that could be what it is! Some people have these just from missing one day of the med or taking it an hour or two later than they usually do. I only had them when weaning off. When I was on the Paxil, I could go a whole day w/o taking it (only by accident) and be ok, but not two days. If you have a virus on top of that, of course you would be feeling bad! What did the Dr say??? I have a friend right now who is getting over that cold flu thing and she was VERY dizzy and fell down. Plus, like you said, illness is a HUGE trigger for us, so it could be that you felt dizzy, started to get anxiety about it and passed out. I used to have that too, where I would shower, and thought I felt a lump or something and instantly get lightheaded. When my anxiety was bad 3 yrs ago, I fainted several times, usually from convincing myself I had something bad going on. I really hope you are feeling better. I agree with Jan that it probably isn't the Paxil since you have been on it so long. Please update us after your appt!! BIG HUGS!!! Erin

Candace, I just read through the thread & I'm wondering if you are feeling any better? If you are feeling weak, keep trying to get fluids or some food in your body & rest.

Well, no wonder I felt so bad. I have pneumonia. I got an antibiotic shot and a cough/decongestant med. I've been laying around since I got home and I'm feeling a little better. I did wake up with anxiety this morning, so I took an ativan and feel better. I plan on living on the couch watching tv and being served by my wonderfully helpful children. Thanks so much everyone for the pt's and prayers and advice. I can alway count on this board for that! I'll keep you updated. I just wanted to let everyone know I'm doing okay.

Love,
Candace
