I am starting to think that this should go in the PMS/PMDD board.

I am very sorry to hear this, Yavonne. When we don't feel well, it's easy to become short-tempered with our kids. I don't know if this is an anxiety issue or PMS. That requires a medical professional's opinion. OTOH, your kids deserve to be safe. You must tell your dh that you are stretched to the limit. You need to reach out for *real life* help in this situation. Call a friend or family member. Call Chidren's Services. They will NOT take your kids away. Their job is to keep families together. They will offer support personnel to come to your home & assist you in dealing with the kids. There is no shame in asking for help. You are NOT a bad person or a poor mother. We all have been pushed to the edge by the stresses of life. Please do the right thing. Sending P&PT's your way. (((hugs))) jan

(((Yavonne))) I think that looking into going back on Lexapro is a good idea.

Hi, jumping in here. It took a good 6-8 weeks for me to feel the full effects of Lexapro. I get really bad PMS - just one day really - and a few years ago my ob/gyn suggested Prozac, but that seemed kind of extreme to me. He told me to try taking extra vitamin B12 and that really helped a lot. Have you tried that? He told me to take it starting a week or so before my period and then the week of. I just took it all month long, and it seemed to do the trick for a while.

hey yavonne,

it definatly sounds like you are feeling strected to your limits....i agree w/jan...ask for some help from your dh.

i sometimes get overly streched and i feel like i could just slap ds when he won't settle down, thats my "signal" that i am burning out and need some help.

keep us posted on how you are doing:) its good to hear from you:)

Most of the stuff I've read indicate that ongoing research is needed to determine if just dosing during your cycle with an antidepressant will help. Here is a link I came up with: http://psychiatrictimes.com/p990641b.html
