Lexapro Day 1 is it a common side effect
| Sat, 02-24-2007 - 12:24pm |
I just started Lexapro 10 mg last night and feel like crap today. I understand it takes time to adjust but the side effect that is the most bothesome is this "nervous" shake that I can not get rid of. I called the pharmacist and they said it "sounds" like an adverse reaction so, I thought I would check on here to see if anyone else had this and if it got any better. I can not get ahold of my doctor on the weekends and the pharmacy said not to take it again until I do.
TIA
Mechelle (new to this whole anxiety thing)

Hey Michelle...I would def talk to your doc...and stop taking it....I have been on three antidepressants and have had adverse reactions to all of them, and one of them was the nervousness that you are talking about...one other thing to watch out for that will tell you right away if you cant take it is if you feel like your skin is burning...its like a huge hot flash that comes over your whole body and makes you feel like your flesh is burning from the inside out lol not pleasant...and if your pupils become dilated that is another bad affect. I am so sorry that you feel so crappy, because I know how you feel I went through it...but lots of times it is trial and error to see what works for you...there might be another one that you can tolerate, and if you find that you are like me and cant tolerate them, ask your doctor about Xanax or something that is what I am on and it works well, and alot less side effects...but def stop taking it and talk to your doc, and see if there is something else they can try you on. I hope you feel better, and good luck!! Lots of luv and hugs, and know that we are here for you!!

My skin has been on fire all morning. Most of the side effects are gone now. I took it at 11:30 last night. Thanks for the info. I will definitely not take it tonight!

You are welcome!! And yes, I have had two doctors tell me the burning is basically an allergic reaction, or "hypersensitive" as they call it...but you just listen to your body and follow your instincts too, if something seems wrong and you feel in your gut something is not right then follow that, because I also had people in the hospital tell me that it was my anxiety and not a reaction, made me feel totally horrible but my reg doc told me no, its signs of an allergic reaction...so I am glad I could help, and you should feel alot better tomorrow. Was it a psych that prescribed it or your regular doc? If it was your regular doc, look around for a good psychiatrist who you trust and you can talk to...and sometimes it takes awhile to find a good one...i went through two before I finally found a great one...but keep me posted!!! Hugs...

The pharmacist is a reliable source, so if he says call your doc & hold your dose, I'd do it.
