I'm so glad I found this board! It's helpful to know I'm not alone.
I need help:
My biggest problem right now is that next Tuesday I have a job interview on the 8th floor of a secure building (no staircase access)
I want the job, going forward it's on the first floor, it's just this once I need to go to the 8th.
I have not been in an elevator in over 20 years. Nothing ever happened, I'm just fearful it will stop and the doors will not open.
Just typing this I'm getting sweaty and my heart is pounding.
I've heard of something called EFT. But I have 7 days and I don't know what to do???
Any ideas...thanks Jessica

I am sorry to hear about your dilemma, Jessica. I have a fear of being trapped & elevators, bridges, tunnels have been a challenge. But, I have learned relaxation, belly breathing & repeating positive affirmations. Now, I hardly even think of the fear. Perhaps because I have so many positive elevator rides under my belt. I generally don't even need to use my techniques.
I see that 7 days is very little time to learn things that took me years. I don't know about EFT. I do know there are therapists who have a desensitization technique that they can use in a matter of minutes. I have no idea how to find a recognized practitioner for you. Perhaps you could call or google someone from your area. Here are some websites that I have saved for phobias. Perhaps they can offer something useful.
I've been trying to answer your post, but for some reason I couldn't yesterday, so I'm going for it again today!
EFT has had amazing results with so many things, including phobias such as yours.
